Representation is not reality.
Every system creates representations of reality: diagnoses, categories, metrics, models, forecasts, protocols, and narratives. These representations allow institutions to function, but they can never contain the whole.
The danger begins when the representation becomes indistinguishable from reality itself. What has been measured is treated as all that exists. What fits the category is recognized, while what falls outside it becomes invisible. Certainty arrives before the fuller structure has been understood.
Holding Complexity examines the human consequences of that collapse and what becomes possible when we learn to remain in relationship with what we do not yet know.
